An interesting, yet not too long-winded, game. Read Review
The defence of the galaxy must be completed in twelve turns but you are awarded points for whatever you manage to complete. Read Review
The Zurgs have won! Earth is almost defeated and the human fleets are destroyed. All except one: Star Force Seven.
Your task is to command the last human fleet in its mission deep into enemy territory. By wreaking havoc with their home worlds and battling with their defending fleets you may be able to force the dreaded Zurgs to pull back and stop invading earth. Will you damage them sufficiently of will your force be destroyed?
This strategic war in space gives you full command of the resources of your starforce. You have a choice of fleets and difficulty levels. A new game every time you play with full graphical displays.
The computer has opened up a whole new world of games. Go beyond the games of fast reflexes and zapping aliens and you reach into that world. The computer takes on a life of its own. Adventure and strategy games start where arcade games finish. Here is the world of imagination and thought. Mind Games are a range of programs designed to stimulate that imagination and take you into new and strange worlds.
Sophisticated graphics, and great presentation are all part of the package.
You can beat the Zurgs if you destroy their home planet or by capturing and keeping 25 other planets. Capturing different types of planets will increase your score. Likewise, you gain points for destroying enemy ships.
You will lose points by destroying enslaved planets and losing ships of your own fleet. If you lose your command ship, it is definitely the end, although you may win posthumously!
Navigational options are Star Jumping, Orbiting or Attacking. The battle options are Break-off (f0), concentrate fire pattern (f5), and disperse fire pattern (f6). Each battle starts with a dispersed fire pattern where each ship chooses its own target. A concentrated pattern of fire allows you to fire at a ship of your choice. Breaking off the action creates an emergency star jump to a randomly selected planet. The Display shows the energy remaining for each of the ships. Remember, when the Zurgs are firing back the screen turns blue!
Once in orbit around a Zurg planet, the choices are to Bombard, Assault or Retire. The Bombardment will continue until you stop it, or the fleet runs low on energy, or the planet is devastated. Note, using up energy has its drawbacks and doesn't increase the chances of winning. Assault starts with an air battle between your fighters and the Zurgs, followed by a land battle. If the planet is friendly it can supply recruits, energy or replacement fighters when captured. Garrisons are essential on captured planets and must be strong enough to resist Zurg attacks. They must be changed when you visit the planet again.
Fleet Status reports include information on Energy Levels, where your Scouts are, and the layout of your Ground Forces. You can send out Spyships, which operate independently of the main fleet. Intelligence gathering is vital to winning. Scouts will help with specific details as to the state of a specific planet.
Details of your Fleet are broken down into type of ship, its weapons and energy levels.

The Zurg fleet consists of random mixtures of two cruisers, heavy and light. They seldom operate with more than 20 ships at a time.
Don't allow yourself to get involved with enemy fleets until you have captured at least one planet. You will need an industrial planet to build fighters. Watch your energy levels - it is very easy to let them get too low. Use Bombardment with care: it will weaken a planet's defences but it will also devastate it.
