Perhaps, very slowly... he could reach the cellar.
Quietly, he started climbing down.
His foot slipped. The giant spider dived towards him...
The game consists of three different levels which, when completed, repeat and get faster. The object of the game is the release of the damsels in distress who are being held prisoner in one of the many locked cells. The key deposited somewhere on the top of the screen will open all of the cells, but only in the order specified by a flashing triangle below the various doors. The player must get the key and open the cells indicated while dealing with the various hazards. Each cell must be opened before the bonus reaches zero. The last cell to be opened will contain a damsel.
Deadly spiders will drop down from level to level and points may be earned by jumping on them. The ghosts of long forgotten prisoners patrol the corridors and any contact with them will result in the loss of a life. The only effective way of dealing with them is to jump over them when they are moving towards you. At the higher game levels, the ghosts may transform themselves into a skull character and travel much faster presenting a more difficult hazard.
Bumping into any of the spooks, spiders, skulls or allowing the bonus score to reach zero will cause the loss of one of the three lives. Bumping into a wall or losing a life will result in the dropping of the key which must be recovered before the game can be continued.
