A picture paints a thousand words... a graphical demonstration beats a dozen books. Read Review
The Sort Animator program allows you to watch a sort in action - the principle that "a picture is worth a thousand words" is particularly relevant in relation to sorting methods. It is so much easier to understand the underlying mechanisms of a sort if you can watch it in action.
Many sorting methods are difficult to understand from the written word (to say the least!), static pictures are better, but the best method by far is animation - you will see the sort in action.
This product contains a suite of programs that are designed to provide the "viewer" with a simplified overview of a variety of sorting methods, in a comprehensible form.
This suite of programs covers a variety of sorting aspects. A number of sorting methods are introduced, animated and described.
The main program, the Sort Animator, covers five sorting methods:
a) Bubble Sort b) Shuttle Sort c) Shell Sort d) Exchange Sort e) Quick Sort
The sorting methods demonstrated by this package are suitable for use in the typical personal computer. They are simple to program and simple to understand.
Whilst these sorts are simple, it is still difficult to grasp the action of the sort from a written description (the original version of this program was written by the author to help him grasp the way in which a Shell sort functioned - this proved so successful that the program was expanded into what you see now!)
This product consists of:
1. an introduction 2. the Sort Animator 3. detailed descriptions of the sorts 4. a comparison program which compares the sorts working on large amounts of data 5. an expanded version of the main Sort Animator program from which you may extract useful routines
All the routines used within Sort Animator are fully described in the companion manual Sort Animator. This manual also contains an expansion of the detail as displayed by the various programs that constitute this product.
If you require a copy of the manual and have any difficulty obtaining it from your local stockist, please write to OIC enclosing a stamped addressed envelope.
We are sure that you will find the presentation of this product both interesting and entertaining and hope that you enjoy making use of the routines supplied.
Sort Animator is the creation of an experienced computer professional, Tony Wright.
Having worked as a mainframe manufacturer for many years, the details of sorting were still a mysterious area. Having delved into many books and manuals in an attempt to clarify sorting concepts in his own mind, the author came to the conclusion that the only way to clarify the internal workings was by visual representation.
