Sonic Mania surpasses the Mega Drive/Genesis originals. It not only incorporates what made Sonic great, but has the inventiveness to shatter what was possible in a 2D platformer... If being this good took ages, it's about damn time.

Sonic Mania is a franchise's identity found. It's simple, it's straightforward, it's what Sonic should be. The developers have gone back to the drawing board and have given new life to a franchise hat was on its last legs just a few years ago. This may be new life into the series, and here's hoping that it continues to be so.

A brilliant return to form for the series' long-time away from traditional 2D games.

A fantastic entry for the franchise... It certainly has helped to reinvigorate my interest in the character going forward.
