The Story

The year is 2031. You are living in an old, ruined skyscraper in Midnight City old downtown. Your building has a dark, unexplained past which still influences lives of its residents.

One night you hear a laser shot and a moment later you realise that the building is on fire.

Your primary goal is to escape from a burning building, but don't expect it to easy. You will have to overcome many obstacles to do it. And while trying to escape, you will get into even bigger troubles...

Gameplay

Skyscraper Of Doom is an arcade adventure game for the ZX Spectrum 48K.

To solve your case you will need to walk around locations, pick and use items, operate devices, talk to people etc.

You can control your character either with a joystick or a keyboard. You can make your selection in game menu.

You can carry two items with you. One of them is always the chosen item. When trying to use an item, you will always use the chosen item.

Hints

1. To pick up items stand in position with your left leg edge touching their left edge :)
2. Some actions require that you carry two items. In such cases not only your chosen item, but the second item you are carrying is important as well.
3. It is possible to get into a dead end when you cannot win the game, although there are only two or so such sitations in entire game.
4. You have only one life and there isn't any way to restore your energy, so be careful.
5. If you want to go upstairs, stand closer to the stairs going up.If you want to go downstairs, stand closer to the stairs going down.
6. When operating a lift use UP/DOWN to move between floors and FIRE to get out.
7. Sometimes you don't need to use an item, it's enough to carry it with you.
8. Some items are "red herrings" and have no use in the game
9. There is a second part of this game planned, so don't complain that some issues aren't expained in the game :)

Game Controls

Left/Right - Walk in chosen direction
Left/Right + Up - Jump in chosen direction
Up - Jump up (not very useful)
Down - Change chosen item

Fire can mean several different actions, depending on the current situation:

1. pick/drop items
2. use items
3. interact with enviroment
4. walk through doors
5. walk stairs
6. advance dialogues

and others...

During gameplay, your game menu shows you:

1. items being carried
2. your energy
3. your score, expressed as percent of completed game story
