Skyscaper Of Doom

A dark graphic adventure by Rafal Miazga. Includes bonus game Safecracker

The year is 2031. You are living in an old, ruined skyscraper in the downtown area of Midnight City. Your building has a dark, unexplained past which still influences the lives of its residents.

Late one night you hear a laser shot and a moment later you realise that the building is on fire.

You must escape the burning building, but don't expect it to be easy. You will have to overcome many obstacles and while trying to escape you will run into even bigger problems...

Instructions

Once you start the game, you will have the chance to watch a short introduction that will explain some of the backstory about your predicament. Pay close attention to this in order to learn some details that may be important in your adventure!

To solve this case and escape from the burning building you will need to walk around locations, collect and use items, operate devices, talk to people, etc. You can control your character either with a joystick or the keyboard. You can make your control selection at the main menu.

You can carry two items with you. One item will always be selected. When using an item, you will always use the selected item.

During gameplay, your game menu shows you

• items being carried
• your energy
• your score, expressed as a percentage of completed game story

Hints

1. To pick up items, stand in position with the edge of your left left touching the left edge of the item.
2. It is possible to get into a dead end which means you cannot win the game, although there are only two or so such situations in the entire game. Be careful and learn from your mistakes!
3. If you want to go upstairs, stand closer to the stairs going up. If you want to go downstairs, stand closer to the stairs going down.
4. Some actions require that you carry two items. In such cases, not only your chosen item but the second item you are carrying is important as well.
5. When operating a lift, use Up/Down to move between floors and Fire to get out.
6. Sometimes you don't need to use an Item, you merely have to be carrying it for it to perform its function.
7. Some items are "red herrings" and have no use in the game.
8. You have only one life and there is no way to get your energy back, so be careful!

The bonus game, Safecracker, is the second program on this tape and must be loaded independently.

Game Controls

The controls are as follows:

Left/Right - Walk in the chosen direction
Left/Right + Up - Jump in the chosen direction
Up - Jump up
Down - Change selected item

Fire can perform several different actions, depending on the current situation:

• pick/drop items
• use items
• interact with environment
• walk through doors and passages
• use stairs
• advance dialogues

And more... It's important to experiment and see what works. You're an investigator - so investigate!
