A dodo. As pilot of the slowest space shuttle ever bolted together you must crawl into the upper atmosphere and disable a fleet of hostile alien satellites. Presumably by boring them out of the skies. Read Review
This is not a game that appeals to me. Read Review
Don't believe a word of the claims on the box! The so-called speech is totally unintelligible and the action is slow and extremely boring. Read Review
The speech from the program was a considerable disappointment. The meanings for some of the commands could only have been guessed at. Read Review
Shuttlezap is a colourful, fast action game that talks to you as well! You have been commissioned to pilot a space shuttle to intercept hostile sputniks patrolling the upper atmosphere. You must launch the shuttle from your secret underground silo and grab as many sputniks as you can before making a safe return to base.
The game will begin by displaying a title screen. When the music restarts, press the fire button to start the game.
Your mission objectives will now be displayed; pressing the fire button again will cause your navigation briefing to appear on the screen. A summary of the shuttle's controls follow that briefing.
The control of your shuttle is dependent upon your split-second decision on rocket direction and thrust level. Direction and thrust level are controlled as follows:
Upward: If joystick is central | 12 o' clock maximum thrust |
6 o' clock minimum thrust
Right: If joystick is right of centre | 1 o' clock maximum thrust |
5 o' clock minimum thrust
Left: If joystick is left of centre | 11 o' clock maximum thrust |
7 o' clock minimum thrust |
But remember - gravity will always pull you down, momentum will always take you to the right. Gravity will decrease, however, as your shuttle climbs higher, and smaller rocket bursts will be needed to maintain altitude.
After the controls summary, you will be able to select levels for various difficulty factors by means of the joystick. When you have made these selections, the game will begin.
Sputniks have a laser weapon which can fire only horizontally, therefore, it is only possible to make a successful grab from above or below. Whenever a successful grab is made, all remaining sputniks will gain speed, making them even more difficult to grab.
The cosmic cloud which will develop around the Earth is potentially deadly and contact with it may kill you.
An in-flight report is displayed after each screen and this will provide some useful information to help you to make tactical decisions for the next phase of the game.
