Mercenary III (Novagen)

If you've never played a Mercenary game before, get this. As an introduction, it's far better than Damocles because it's easier and more structured.

It's possible to get to the heart of the game, and when you do, you'll be glad you persevered. It's just a shame that you virtually need to be a surgeon if you're ever going to get there.

Mega Twins (U. S. Gold)

Similar to Rodland... It's a lot of fun.

WWF WrestleMania (Ocean)

WWF WrestleMania's not terrible, but it's only a beat-'em-up hiding under the guise of a wrestling game.

Barbarian 2 (Psygnosis)

This game been written a dozen times before, rarely better though - Barbarian 2 looks good and plays better than any of its predecessors.

Rubicon (21st Century Entertainment)

Out of the ordinary, exciting, unusual and strange - none of these words describe Rubicon. The words run-of-the-mill, average, competent and uninteresting do, however.

Great Napoleonic Battles (Impressions Ltd)

Great Napoleonic Battles isn't groundbreaking. It's brightly coloured and clear, but uses those dreadful wargame symbols that no-one outside the Army actually understands.

Devious Designs (Image Works)

You'd have to be a real square to want to play this.

Oh No! More Lemmings (Psygnosis)

DMA Design couldn't really have gone wrong whatever they did for this disk - Lemmings is such an excellent concept it's extremely difficult to muck it up. Get it immediately.

Double Dragon 2 (Tronix)

Much of a muchness, really. After all, if you've seen one beat-'em-up, you've more or less seen them all.

Advantage Tennis (Infogrames)

Advantage Tennis is far too stupid a name for something which is actually a lot of fun to play. That's the French for you, though.

Under Pressure (Electronic Zoo)

Very nice looking, but it's so booooooring.

Steve McQueen Westphaser (Loriciel)

We're talking major silly here. It's only the weird Gallic sense of humour which saves Westphaser from being relegated to the scrap-heap... possibly.

Thunderjaws (Domark)

The idea is a little barnacle-encrusted, but it might have worked if the game ran faster. Instead, it jerks along at a rate comparable to continental drift.

The Immortal (Electronic Arts)

Exactly how a graphic adventure should be... It's quick to get the hang of, but some of the tricks and traps make it tough.
