Wonderland (Virgin/Mastertronic)
A sound and highly absorbing game... The windows aren't just a gimmick - they genuinely make playing the game more manageable, though there are still times when it's quicker to type in a command than fiddle about with icons.
An attractive game... It introduces a fun combative element into the game without ruining the basic idea of racing.
An absorbing game but it doubtless won't be everyone's cup of tea. There are no high-drama action scenes or jazzy sound-effects to amaze you, but there is a solid game which gradually unveils its many secrets as you play it through.
Jahangir Khan's World Championship Squash (Krisalis)
The game features everything you might want from any sports sim, so even if you're not a squash nut you might find it absorbing enough to while away the odd weekend.
You can't deny that the overall presentation, programming and design are top-notch - it's just that the gameplay seems to be lacking.
A highly polished simulation. It's a game that grows with your skill and should have you coming back for more when you've tired of your shoot-'em-ups.
It's quite absorbing, you might quite like it... But the only difference between this computer game and the board game of the same name is that it will spare you from tedious dice-rolling.
Mega Traveller: The Zhodani Conspiracy (Empire)
MegaTraveller is not as satisfying as it could be. If you need something to fire your imagination, you won't find it here.
An immensely enjoyable platform game. It's very easy to get into as well.
Typically French - garish, noisy and making no sense whatsoever - it's a mindless challenge which should keep you occupied for a long time.
The game may have been lauded back in 1984 but nowadays, well, frankly, it's boring.
Lords Of Chaos (The Software Business)
It takes some time to work out what to do, and there's not much frantic action, but that doesn't make it a bad game - strategy fans and RPGers are going to enjoy it.
Don't waste your money on this. If you really want to play pirates, get one of those plastic eyepatches you find in Christmas crackers - they're better value.
A plod through a jerky seascape with the occasional shot at a yellow blob accompanied by horrible bloops and burps.
Tetris may have been better re-released on budget, but for now it's only recommended for the serious puzzle freak.
Certainly nothing to get overly excited about, but it's fun for a while and may appeal to younger users.
Overall, not much of a winning team at all - but there is one Winning Team member in the form of Escape From The Planet Of The Robot Monsters..
Cohort is bound to appeal to the hardcore wargamer because it's completely strategy-based. There are no pretty arcade bits like you see in Betrayal, but buy it if wargames are your bag.
Sim City Terrain Editor (Infogrames)
Nothing spectacular, and certainly not worth the asking price unless you really want every Sim program ever.
Graphics and sound are simply functional, but if you're a member of the English Obsessive Othello Club, it's a must.
