A step closer to marrying fantastic graphics with a worthwhile game, but it doesn't quite make it. In this game, pleasurable frustration can easily turn into angry boredom.

Team Suzuki (Gremlin)

Pretty bland. Apart from the accuracy of the racetracks, the much-trumpeted co-operation between Gremlin and Suzuki doesn't seem to have added much to the gameplay at all.

Revelation! (Krisalis)

This is just too darned difficult! After the first few irritating plays, you simply don't have the patience to try and crack the thing.

Curse Of The Azure Bonds (Strategic Simulations Inc)

If you like role-playing and want a game with tremendous long term interest and a really good storyline, you can't go wrong with this one.

Super Monaco GP (U. S. Gold)

The game is competently put together, but it's still just another racing simulation.

Codename: Iceman (Sierra On-Line)

The usual Sierra game... Typically American touches: huge with MIDI support and mounds of documentation. But you must balance this against the excruciatingly slow gameplay and the constant disk accessing.

Mighty Bombjack (Elite)

Don't bother... We deserve much better than this.

Viz (Virgin Games)

Great fun but marred by some niggly faults.

Hard Drivin' 2 (Domark)

Not a bad game, but don't be fooled by the new packaging - the game is only a slightly improved version of the original Hard Drivin'.

Narc (Ocean)

Potentially an excellent game, offering large amounts of violence to satisfy blood-lust fans everywhere. The colours are just far too dull and badly affect the gameplay. Such a shame.

World Championship Soccer (Elite)

Brings nothing new to the art of football simulation, but it's a competent game.

Steve Davis Snooker (CDS)

An old game, but still fun.

Super Gridrunner (Action 16)

If you enjoy shoot-'em-ups, go and buy this one - today.

Colorado (Action 16)

It bears all the trademarks of a French game - looks great, but lacks depth.

Xenon (16 Blitz Plus/Mastertronic)

Make your way through a plethora of levels, changing between an airborne fighter and ground-based attack craft... In 1987 it was something of a bestseller but now it looks a tad dated.

Gemini Wing (16 Blitz Plus/Mastertronic)

A blaster in the traditional 'blow me, there's rather a lot happening on screen' mould.

Double Dragon (16 Blitz Plus/Mastertronic)

The game is more fun with two players, particularly when one of you is getting beaten up and the other just looks on gleefully.

Silkworm (16 Blitz Plus/Mastertronic)

The most appealing aspect of this game is the simultaneous two-player action, where one of you controls a helicopter and the other controls a jeep.
