You are competing in a car rally competition where you must find all the clues and successfully return before any of the other competitors and before time runs out.
Rally is a real-time graphic adventure game in which you compete in a car rally competition. It differs from other graphic adventures in that each location can be examined either visually or by placing a cursor on the position that you wish to investigate [by typing EXA(mine), using the arrow keys to move the cursor, then pressing ENTER]. Each screen has its own features and must not be disregarded.
Like any adventure you must make sure that you maintain your energy and conserve your fuel - you have a small amount of cash to help you to do so. If you walk everywhere your energy will go down rapidly - if you drive everywhere your energy will be conserved but your fuel will quickly disappear.
The computer will accept a VERB NOUN command (the first three letters of each is usually sufficient), e.g. FEED HORSE = FEE HOR. You must exit the EXA(mine) mode to give commands. This can be done by pressing CLEAR.
If you leave your car at a particular location and walk to another you can identify the place where you left your car by an asterisk on the status window (You are in/out of the car*).
You can move by using the arrow keys - if you press the Down Arrow you will return to the previous location that you have visited.
In some places you may only be able to examine (and take note), in others you may be able to obtain certain objects and carry them with you. If you type INV(entory) you will be able to see what you are carrying.
Observe the Highway Code and break the law at your peril!!!
A few commands that may help you in your task are:
WAIT
pauses the game until a key is pressed
SAVE GAME
saves your current position and status to a separate disk
LOAD GAME
loads back a previously saved game from a separate disk
You are advised to save the game at regular intervals.
The write-protect label should not be removed. During the playing of the game, the master disk must not be removed from the drive unless prompted.
Insert Rally Master disk and type BOOT (ENTER)
