Printer Driver Generator

Printer drivers are programs used in conjunction with a word processor to support the special facilities offered by some printers.

This cassette contains the Printer Driver Generator program plus ready-made printer drivers for Epson FX80, Olivetti JP101, Juki6100, Facit8105 and Ricoh Flowriter 1600 printers. A Screen Driver and the MPRINT program are also provided. The package includes a user guide.

The Printer Driver Generator enables you to create an individually tailored printer driver for your printer. You specify the facilities you require and give information about your printer; a printer driver is then assembled for you. Facilities supported by the Printer Driver Generator include underlining, bold, italics, superscripts, subscripts, microspacing, alternative fonts and extended character sets. Drivers will also print pound, hash and dollar signs correctly.

The Screen Driver allows you to print highlighted text on to the screen and to see the effects of underlining, bold, superscripts, subscripts and italics. The MPRINT program enables you to print more than one file in a single print session including the text currently in the computer's memory.

Operating System

To use the Printer Driver Generator, your computer must be fitted with the 1.2 machine Operating System or later versions.

Note that the files appear in the above order with the exception of A.FX4 which appears after B.PDG24b.

Loading

To load the Printer Driver Generator:
Place the Printer Driver Generator cassette in the cassette recorder. Type:

CHAIN"" (RETURN)

When you see the message 'Searching', press the PLAY button on the cassette recorder. You will then see the title page. The first part of the program will take a further three minutes to load.

To load a printer driver:
Type: *WORD (RETURN) to get into VIEW
Type: NEW (RETURN)

Place the cassette with your printer driver file in the cassette recorder.

Type:

PRINTER filename (RETURN)

When the message 'Searching' appears, press the PLAY button. When loading is complete, the words Printer default at the top of the screen are replaced by Printer... followed by the name of the printer driver.

To Load MPRINT

Place the Printer Driver Generator cassette in the recorder.

Type */MPRINT (RETURN) or *RUN MPRINT (RETURN)

When the message 'Searching' appears, press the PLAY button. When the cursor returns the program is loaded.

To Load The Screen Driver:
Place the Printer Driver Generator cassette in the recorder.

Type: */TOSCRN (RETURN) or *RUN TOSCRN (RETURN)

When the message 'Searching' appears, press the PLAY button. When loading is complete, the words 'Printer default' at the top of the screen are replaced by 'Printer SCREEN'.

Note that this will erase any text currently in the computer's memory.
