When HeartGold and SoulSilver came out, they became the definitive DS titles, and arguably the finest games in the series. But Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl don't feel like they'll make anywhere near that level of impact. The Chibi art style is a massive downgrade from the pixel art of the originals.

With changes that lean mostly toward quality of life improvements, this is a firm reminder that Pokemon games can be extraordinary and one of the most enjoyable remakes I've played in a long time.
