The idea of the game is to burst all the balloons. To do this, Pete must bounce through them (otherwise they will burst and drop a nasty, which you must not touch!).
When you burst a balloon, either an alien or an object will fall out. If it is an object, you must land on it when it hits the ground to pick up points. (Some objects have special uses!)
If it is an alien, he will not be active until he touches the ground, then he will grow.
When there are no more balloons, and no objects left carelessly lying around, the doors will open and you will be allowed to pass through to the next screen - provided that you have got a key from one of the balloons.
There are ten screens in all.
At the top of the screen are two meters. One is for your concussion, and goes up every time you smash your head against a platform. The other is your disease level, which goes up every time you get bitten by one of the aliens.
If either of these reach their limit, the results will be fatal.
The only ones I'm going to tell you about are these:
Key | ... | Quite an important piece really. |
Apple | ... | Utterly useless I'm afraid (apart from points). |
Letters | ... | If you manage to get the five letters of BONUS, then you get a bonus and both meters are cleared. But, if you already have the letter, and collect it again, it will be removed! |
Skull | ... | Very dangerous. Don't even consider touching them! |
Power Pill | ... | Turns you into a hulking brute so that the aliens die when they bite you. |
Concussion Pill | ... | Resets your concussion meter to zero. |
Disease Pill | ... | Clears your disease meter. Unfortunately, there is only one in the whole game. |
To get an extra life, you must visit each room at least once.
At the top of the screen, in the middle is the "next" room pointer. When you actually get around to visiting this room, then it will go up by one, and when it reaches its limit, you get your hard-earned extra life.
Believe me, it ain't easy!
Z - Left, X - Right, * - Bounce Higher, ? - Bounce Lower
S/Q - Sound On/Off, COPY/DELETE - Pause/Resume
