You are yellow (white), the computer is blue (black).
If you are unfamiliar with how to play Othello, then on your first go you should select the Demo play. You will soon see how the game is played. Tactics play an important part and skill can be acquired with a little practice.
Othello is a game played on a board comprising of 64 squares like a chess or draughts board. Your objective is to occupy as many squares as possible and more than your opponent to win. The game is over when all the squares are occupied.
The game starts with the four centre squares filled with two of your pieces and two of your opponent's pieces. Whoever starts will make a line by joining two of his pieces together; he will place a piece next to his opponent's, but on a line or diagonal with himself.
Your opponent's pieces in between your own change to your own colour. The other player will then attempt the same operation.
It is thought best to try and occupy the middle squares in the opening game. Eventually, either you or the computer will see the opportunity to gain a square on the perimeter. Once this is gained, you have the opportunity of holding the whole line or diagonal.
Do not be tempted to rush for the corner. The four squares in each corner should be left until the end of the game unless you are sure you will gain the corner square which will give you possible control of two sides and the diagonal. Remember, when you place your piece will you be giving away more than you gain.
You will only become adept with practice but discovering your skills is part of the great pleasure of the game which will grow as your skill improves.
