Noc-A-Bloc is written in machine code, and so the quality of the graphics is very good. Read Review
I found Noc-A-Bloc coarser and much more sluggish than other maze games... In fact, I only got the hang of it by crossing my hands over the keyboard. Read Review
The need to think quickly and respond to a continually changing situation provides an interesting game. Read Review
Although the only reason to play is to get a high score, it still kept me coming back for more. Read Review
Worth looking at. A good game, with clear, smooth graphics and plenty of colour... It could be improved with more sound. Read Review
Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the deep freeze!
You are in the middle of a cold store filled with blocks of ice and a bunch of fierce spods. You must avoid these spods at all costs otherwise they will kill you. Fortunately, you have the power to kill them as well. There are two ways to kill them. The first and best way is by squashing them. To do this you must push the blocks into them. If you hit them, they will due.
The second way is to stun them and then walk over them. To stun them you must push against one of the edges of the screen. The edges will turn yellow and if a spud walks along that edge it will become stunned for a few seconds; during which you can walk over it and it will die. However, this is less well rewarded than the first way.
To push a block you are standing next to, you must press the spacebar/or fire button on a joystick) and push in the direction you wish the iceblock to travel.
If there is another block behind it then the ice will crumble instead. There are three special blocks as well which cannot be crumbled. These blocks are essential to getting a high score. To score a big bonus you must knock the blocks into a line. If you line the blocks up along one of the edges then you will score 5,000 points. But if you line them up away from the edge then you will score 10,000 points.
At the start of the game there are only four Spods to kill but this increases every sheet although you will only have to fight four at any one time. When one dies though, more will appear until they are all dead. You will receive an extra life at 50,000 points.
