It's always tricky mastering thrust, but the colourful graphics and tolerable sound make this a good version of a familiar game. Read Review
A game on cassette for the BBC Microcomputer Model B
Piloting an emergency Space Capsule, your mission is to rescue six of your fellow astronauts stranded on the surface of an alien planet. Launch the Capsule from the Mothership and guide it down to land safely on the surface, picking up one astronaut at a time and taking him back to the Mothership. Throughout your rescue attempt you must take care to avoid the meteors which drift above the planet and the alien craft which pursue your Capsule firing deadly missiles.
Complete with sound effects, full colour graphics and table of high scores, Meteor Mission is fully compatible with either keyboard or joysticks.
Launch the Capsule from the Mothership and guide it down to land safely on one of the two platforms on the surface of the planet. On your way down you will have to avoid colliding with any of the meteors and dodge the alien pursuit ship and the missiles it fires at you. Once you have landed safely, one of the astronauts will come aborad and you will have to reutrn him to the safety of the Mothership. On your way back up, you can fire at meteors and the pursuit ship to destroy them and score points before guiding the Capsule back inside the Mothership. When you have rescued all six astronauts, you will receive a bonus and will be presented with a new screen.
You start the game with three capsules but you will receive a bonus ship for every 10,000 points you score, up to a maximum of three.
A table of the eight highest scores is displayed at the end of each game.
