If the "popular press" are to be believed, then the world will one day end in a blaze of glory - most probably brought about by either a nuclear war or a nuclear accident. One of their most common "theories" being that a nuclear reactor will explode and the resultant "escape" of the core will bring about severe contamination of all surrounding areas - perhaps even bringing about the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians. Such is the "price" of progress and such is the legacy we leave behind us.
The danger of such a thing happening is something that the authorities have learnt to live with and something that the likes of you and I know very little about. However, it is a fact of life and something we should be more aware of. Accidents do happen and even the most "safety conscious" amongst us cannot cover for every eventuality ... mistakes do occur, even to the best of us!
This game is a story of one such event, one such "accident" and it is up to you to try and prevent the catastrophe that could entail ... are you capable of preventing it???
It had been a routine flight - up until five minutes before the plane hit the deck - and as far as anybody at N.F.U.K. was concerned there had been no reason to fear a thing. After all, it was only a batch of "used" plutonium rods - on their way to be re-processed - and such a cargo had been handled hundreds of times before. In fact there were three more such trips planned for the coming week and none of them would be handled any differently to this one.
However, the plane hit the ground and wreckage was scattered far and wide - amongst it were the plutonium rods that nobody seemed to worry about. But worry they soon would, because unless the rods were recovered and sealed away in lead boxes, one thing was more than certain - that particular piece of "Mother Earth" would never one be the same again. Nor would any of the creatures or people that lived there!
Your task is to make your way to the "crash site" then, once there, search for and find the missing rods before they brought about a nuclear explosion. Time is of the essence as the rods went "critical" on impact and if their temperature goes beyond a certain point "meltdown" will occur and a dreadful explosion take place. This explosion will most certainly kill tens of thousands and render the area contaminated for hundreds of years.
This game will recognise the usual commands. However, Laurence has added an extra one that will enable you to examine the contents of "containers" ... without having to go through the rigmarole of having to open them first. This command is ... LIN or LINS and means LOOK IN SOMETHING - eg. LIN CASE will enable you to ascertain the contents of the case.
Ignore the obvious and just "move" it to find what you really need!!!
