The 8 x 8 CHR$ appear cheap and nasty when paused, but in motion they do give the game a unique charm... If you take the mapping element seriously, you could have quite a lot of fun puzzling all of Mage Rage out. Read Review
Whilst the action is limited and slightly repetitive, it's great fun while it lasts. One for those who remember gaming prior to 1985. Read Review
You play the part of Mercure the Mage who must venture forth into the ravenous beasts evil lair, full of spiders, bats, rats, goblins and trolls, and recover the magical swirls which were stolen from Stone Circle earlier that morning whilst you were busy meditating.
Mage Rage is a top down maze shooter for the ZX Spectrum in the same vein as The Halls Of The Things. You must wander the area killing or avoiding various creatures whilst on the look out for the stolen magical swirls. The lair also handily contains pressure pads to open doors, wizard bolt refills and life energy which will all help to keep you alive. Once the swirls have all been recovered you must make your way back to where you left your trusty steed to escape
