An interesting challenge for arcade players with a strong leaning towards adventures, but not one that particularly appeals to me. Read Review
Reviewed in the annual Models Games Guides: Acorn Electron.
It has been described as the 'Game Of The Month' by A&B Computing's Dave Reeder and is a Godax Production.
Cast in the role of King Arthur, you are disturbed to find that a rival clan has invaded your castle and stolen your crown jewels and your sword Excalibur.
Devoid of your secret powers, you disguise yourself as Arthur King, footsoldier, and armed with only a bow and arrow you must penetrate the enemy stronghold and capture Crown, Mace, Diamond and Excalibur. You will have to fight off enemy soldiers and avoid many hazards.
Kourtyard has four different areas to explore. When you have completed one, after the bonus screen, two will automatically load in. The areas are 1/ Outside the stronghold, 2/ Lower floor of the castle, 3/ Upper floor of the castle, 4/ Magic landscape.
Between each level you can score more points by completing a bonus screen where you can practice your jousting skills. You have 3 chances to hit the bags using A, Z, : and / for top and bottom poles.
Kourtyard includes a free self-contained map editor that allows you to design your own screens with ease. Commands are:
C - Catalogue, L - Load Data, S - Save Data, SPACE - Toggle menu/edit screens, F - Fill map with n, Q - Quit
RETURN - Toggle edit/list and the cursor keys move cursor with 0-9 A-F inserting the block.
If you wish to design levels, they must be alternatives to those designed (i.e. called DATA3).

The following utilities are also available to allow you to edit the supplied screens of this game:
A cheat for this game was included on the Cheat It Again Joe 1 compilation, released by Impact (Refer to the specific instructions on that compilation and match the cheat to the specific version. Note that emulated versions of the game may not work with this cheat).
