Players of this game should watch themselves carefully, and when they develop a craving for flies, give it a rest!
The Brood (Buttercraft) (Video Genie)
Good graphics, considering the limitations of the screen, and sound for those who can use the facility.
QS Invaders (Quicksilva) (Sinclair ZX81)
Allows scores per hit and bomb rate to be altered, and the highest scorer can enter his name at the end of a game.
Galaxians (Quicksilva) (Sinclair ZX81)
Galaxians can be played very fast - too fast for me, especially when the number swooping was set high.
Munchees (Quicksilva) (Sinclair ZX81)
Its main attraction is price: all but one of the current rivals I know of cost rather more.
QS Scramble (Quicksilva) (Sinclair ZX81)
Though competently produced and executed, it is rather boring compared to other versions of the game on the market.
Mancala (Haven Hardware) (Spectrum 16K)
In real life the skill of this game lies in being able to play it very quickly so I don't see this as an ideal game for a computer.
Transylvanian Tower (Richard Shepherd) (Spectrum 48K)
Response time is slow... You have to hold down the keys for a second or two each time.
Micro Chess (Artic) (Spectrum 16K)
An excellent chess tutor, but a shame that it is such a weak player.
Invaders (Artic) (Spectrum 16K)
The game is well presented, the graphics are fast and smooth, and the sound is reasonable.
Voice Chess (Artic) (Spectrum 48K)
A good, well documented chess program, but the speech is just a gimmick.
Auto-Sonics (Buttercraft) (Spectrum 48K)
Some sounds are difficult to obtain, due to the sluggishness of ZX Basic.
Invasion Force (Artic) (Spectrum 16K)
Simple but addictive, and makes a change from the usual 'Bang-Bang, kill the aliens' format.
Galaxians (Artic) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
This is a well-written version and the graphics are fast, although they tend to flicker slightly.
Patience (Haven Hardware) (Spectrum 16K)
You don't have to shuffle the cards, and it's also impossible to cheat, since the computer's error-checking is very thorough.
