Be prepared to apply for your Spectrum's pilot's licence: the enemy hordes are pretty vicious and take a lot of practice to get past and will have you chucking your Speccy out the window in frustration. Read Review

Infiltrate the Alien Rebel's headquarters in Konami's smash coin-op game for your home computer. Negotiate the electric force field and then overcome wave upon wave of fanatical guerillas as you make your way inexorably towards their base.
Split-second timing and nerves of steel are a must for this exciting fun-packed program with all the features of the arcade original.
The Durrs from the Planet Sunahave infiltrated Earth's defensive forces, hasve set up a strong hold in an unchartered region on our planet and have assembled an atmosphere processing plant (APP) which gives them the facility to control the planet's weather conditions. Their plan is to bring about another ice age and thereby take over Earth and all its resources. You are Lance Gryzor, a member of the federation for Earth's defences (FED). Having discovered the evil intention of the Durrs, you must infiltrate the stronghold: make your way through the fortification, past the androids and into the heart of the complex to destroy the APP.
You will encounter many dangers and numerous weapons systems together with deadly tunnels and awkward mazes. As you get closer to the heart of the complex, you will find that the APP has already started its dastardly work and, if you manage to pass the ice region, you will then encounter a labyrinth of pipes and ducts, only then you realise the danger has just begun... For the aliens incarnate will reveal themselves, and you will be pitted against the most deadly foe ever known to man!
There is only one man who could ever hope to accomplish this mission. His name: Lance Gryzor!
The game is divided into five sections:
The score and lives are displayed on the screen at all times.
On the maze section a map of the maze and a clock appear. The clock displays the amount of time you have to complete the maze stage before losing a life. Points are awarded for shooting the enemies that you encounter: large aliens 5,000 - 40,000, soldiers 500 and small aliens 200.
N - Left, M - Right, S - Up, X - Down, A - Fire, SPACE - Jump
The game has joystick or keyboard options, selected from the menu, before play starts.
With joystick play, the space bar is used to jump.
You may redefine keys on the main menu.
Note: The 48K version is split into three sections. The first is loaded as normal but the second and third sections will need to be loaded during the game. After each section has loaded, stop the tape. There are on-screen prompts to help you.
Following the 128K version of Gryzor on side B of this tape there is a short playable demonstration of the Konami coin-op hit Combat School. To load, follow the loading instructions as normal - the demonstration can be played with joystick or keyboard.
