In the deep vastness of space there were beings, much superior to humans, who gazed on our little planet with a great longing. For their home-planet was doomed to extinction and life as they knew it would soon draw to a close. Their only hope was to find a more suitable place for them to dwell and to bring forth the vast numbers that survival of their species demanded. With this aim in mind they scanned the darkness of space for many a long day, until finally their scanners located Earth. After frantic calculations in the databanks of their NYMORP a decision was made to colonise Earth and, if necessary, put to death the present occupiers.
They arrived in vast "carriers", each more massive than the last, and began spewing out the myriads of tiny craft that were to colonise the Earth. Their success was swift and the so-called "mighty" powers of U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. were the first to fall defeated before the onslaught of their many and varied weapons. As each successive wave of intruders battled its way across the globe, defeating all who stood in their way, it became evident that the small island of Great Britain was all that stood between the aliens and total world domination.
At a gathering of the "battle-council" it was decided to erect a giant solar-screen between the sun and Great Britain, in the hope that cutting off the sunlight from the inhabitants would bring about their downfall. This they did and the slow process of "solar-deprivation" commenced.
The only hope of the inhabitants of the "dark wastelands" that had once been Britain was to somehow destroy the solar-screen, thus restoring the sunlight and its much needed source of heat and energy.
This is your task ... you will need to locate a "shuttle", if such a craft exists, and then to launch this into orbit, before finally making the journey to the site of the "solar-screen". Once there you must destroy the screen in any manner possible... You are the Earth's only hope for survival!!!
This game will accept all the standard commands such as EXAMINE, PRESS, READ, GET, FIX and AIM as well as some more unusual commands such as CHARGE, INSERT, DISMANTLE, LISTEN and JAM.
This game will also accept such commands as RAM SAVE and RAM LOAD in order to store a "game position" to memory but always use the more normal SAVE and LOAD to make a more permanent record to tape.
If the door keeps swinging shut just use something to wedge it open and don't forget that "weightlessness" can be a bit of a handicap when you want to take a trip in space.
The following utilities are also available to allow you to edit the supplied screens of this game:
