Dear Esther... You're interesting, but hey, you're dead. Dead boring. Yours faithfully, Dave E Read Review
Thereâs a reason why Dear Esther spawned the âwalking simulatorâ genre. It was the first, and is still one of the best, exploration games you can play. On your second playthrough, however, the directors commentary is why you're really here.
Worth checking out for its importance in game history but not so much for the enjoyment factor... Despite the presence of some deeper elements to uncover (if you're dedicated to going through it multiple times to seek them out), there's no getting around the fact that it's frequently a drag to play.
