They came from the realm of the undead, from the cold land that lays far away to the east of the Great Forest.
Vastly outnumbered, our brave warriors stood little chance. As the sage said, "You cannot kill something that is already dead." But the dead ones could kill what was alive... and they did.
They took the beautiful young princess. Worse still, they took the Ancient Scrolls that protected the land from Evil Ones. Now the people have given up all hope, and the domain lies in permanent darkness.
You are chosen to cross the Great Forest, and go forth into the realm of the Undead to save the princess and reclaim the Ancient Scrolls.
From the realm of the Undead, from the cold, dark land to the east of the forest, they came. As the Sage said, "You cannot kill what is already dead." But they could, and did, massacre our vastly outnumbered warriors. They took the beautiful child Princess, and the ancient scrolls that had protected the land from their overlords - the Evil Ones. Now the people live without hope, and the domain lies barren, and in permanent darkness.
You were a young boy at the time. So young that you were able to hide 'neath your mother's skirts when the pillage happened. You are the only remaining male in a land populated by old, frail men and defenceless women. The elders have taken you under their guidance. They have taught you the art of combat, and the secrets of the Old Ways.
Now is the time. Ready or not, you must cross the Forest, and go to the land to the East, the Land of the Evil Ones. You must enter the castle and rescue the Princess.
If you fail, you will never return. You will become one of the Undead.
Your mission begins in the forest outside the castle of the Evil Ones. You must find, and collect, the six Ancient Scrolls before you can enter the castle. Whilst searching for the Scrolls, you must do battle with the Undead. Watch out for the obelisks; touch one and a wizard will be summoned to cast powerful spells against you.
The scroll icon at the bottom right of the screen indicates how many scrolls you must still collect. Enter the castle through the doorway at the right-hand side of the screen.
Once inside the castle, you must search for the Princess. You will find keys in various places to open the locked doors. (The key icon at the bottom of the screen will flash when you have found a key.) You must fight the Evil One's foot soldiers, and avoid the fireballs that are sent against you. Once you have found the Princess, you must battle your way out of the castle, and lead her to safety.
The panel shows your score and the amount of time remaining to complete your quest. Your energy is shown as a heart icon, which decreases the more that you are injured in the fighting.
