Background

In the popular interplanetary chess tournament (Yes, Chess is very popular in space, because it helps to kill time in interplanetary travels) there is a special game mode called "Chessboard Attack". My game is a realistic simulation of it, for training purposes.

Chessboard Attack

Chessboard Attack is best described as a mix between the popular game Chess, and the very unknown game called "Mine Sweeper", which was forbidden on Earth after Microsoft failed to gain the control over Earth (Yes, Windows 8-Fail).

You control the Chess Piece called "King" and you can move it in any direction on the 8x8 board. The tiles of this board are hidden, so you cannot see what is on the other squares. There may be other Chess pieces hidden, except in lowest row, and if you run into one of them, it kills you instantly.

Fortunately, you can see the status and which kind of pieces can attack you (according to the chess rules) on your current position. This gives you the chance to guess where which figures are. You can place five bad guesses before you die.

Cursor Mode

If you are sure where a figure is, press fire to switch to cursor mode, move the cursor to the square of the enemy chess piece and press fire. If there really was a figure there, it will disappear. If not, you will only see an empty board tile and lose one of your guesses. If you fail five times, it's game over! If you accidentally press fire, select your king or any uncovered field and press fire again to regain control.

Countdown Timer

There is also a countdown timer. If this runs out, it kills you too.
