Definitely one of the better games available on the Beeb. Read Review
Challenger is the latest in the distinguished line of high performance spacecraft from JTL. This new machine embodies the classic combination of power with handling. Its compact body houses two Plasma fusion drives and seven attitude jets leaving room for just one seat.
Also included as standard are laser-bolts, H-bombs, Inviso shields and the state-of-the-art lightspeed drive Warp II (all to government tolerances for attack, defence and escape from unfriendly aliens). Streamlining is included for any atmospheric travelling.
These features ensure that Challenger is the ultimate personal space-craft.

As controller of Challenger, your task is to destroy all aliens and quads.
When you succeed in clearing a ground, you proceed to the next ground. There are four different grounds making up one level.
You begin with three ships, losing one each time you collide with any of the objects on a ground (apart from WARP) including the ground itself.
Your fuel is continuously depleted but can be restored by destroying fuel dumps. You lose a ship if you run out of fuel.
Rockets, quads, pips and mutants are all out to get you though you have unlimited missiles and bombs and a limited supply of INVISO (shields) in your defence.
Quads appear on levels 2 to 20; on levels 3 to 20 quads throw out pips.
If you take too long to clear a ground, the aliens mutate, take off and come after you.
There is also WARP, which instantly moves you up three levels, but you'll have to figure out how!
There are over 200 levels with every 4th level being a dogfight between you and the quads and mutants. A score of over 100,000 is brilliant and 1,000,000 is totally impossible (unless you know otherwise).
