You have got to get this...! With beautiful cover art, advertisements from every publisher currently supporting the scene, this is like an Eighties fanzine maxed up with caffeine and given the production facilities of a full-blown creative arts department. Read Review

Road Duel (Good Deal Games)
A fun game with iconic Atari VCS graphics and sounds. All ages will love to play.
Nextdaw (Gari Biasillo)
One of the greatest utilities ever written. It's up there on the pedestal with The Quill, The Artist and PAW.
Majesty Of Sprites (Psytronik)
It's got great graphics, a clever level design and it's extremely polished. It's got a few flaws but they don't take that much away from the game.
Crazy Blaster (Mika Keranen)
Your macho shoot-'em-up ego will just want to complete each bastard level Misfit has created so you can defeat this crazy game once and for all!
Pets Rescue (Psytronik)
The cute graphics, level design and wonderful catchy tune will keep you thoroughly entertained.
Vegetables Deluxe (Double Sided Games)
Colourful, addictive and the best way to eat your greens and tackle a fun puzzle game!
Kami (DnP)
While it is initially engaging, there is little incentive to return once the puzzles have been solved.
Super Toboggan Challenge (The New Dimension)
This soon becomes repetitive as a game - but serves its purpose for introducing certain techniques.
Starfysh Remix (The New Dimension)
Graphics are distinctive and nicely drawn, presentation is good and the music tracks are worth a listen... but the remix gave a real opportunity to add more to the gameplay, and it was missed.
4 A Win (The New Dimension)
Presentation is quite basic but Richard's music is OK. The real drawback is the computer AI, which is very easy to beat.
4M Arena (Hokuto Force)
The computer skill level is not bad as it tries to dodge, but it soon becomes very boring.
Bombakereso (Krissz)
The graphics are OK and the coloured numbers provide a good visual clue when selecting, but it lacks the option to mark where the player thinks the bombs are.
Neutron (RGCD)
A classic shoot-'em-up... and a fantastic game with many impressive features. You will definitely have a lot of fun playing Neutron.
Bruce Lee: Return Of Fury (Rebel Android)
Bruce returns in a furious new adventure that will challenge you... The relentless enemies are tough with the computer controlling them.
Ultimate Filmation Quadrilogy (Excess)
These titles have aged badly. I found at times that they were exasperating rather than innovative and I did not find myself drawn back to play again.
The Coffee Break Shootout & Total Refill (Psytronik)
I like the different backgrounds in Coffee Break Shootout and the animation of the birds... Total Refill has echoes of Tapper and a unique look with its large sprites.
Trogue 64 (Wbochar)
An enjoyable variation on a classic theme. A clever idea is the colour change in the screen border, showing how high up the mine the water has risen.
Commando 2084 (Ricardo Quesada)
In the wake of Commando Arcade, it looks less impressive as it has only the original three levels and there is sprite flicker - but it is a clever hack.
Rocket 'N Roll (The New Dimension)
Needed more thought in the graphics and level designs to be considered better, but as a tutorial it works OK.
Happy Blocks DX (The New Dimension)
A simple enough game. Well presented but ultimately with little depth.
Frantic Freddie II (Oziphantom)
It is a great homage to the original but the enemy AI is designed to home-in on the player relentlessly, making certain levels (particularly the second) exceptionally difficult to clear.
Panzer (Sputnik World)
While the graphics are quite well-made and there is a nice title tune, there's not a huge amount of gameplay here - with just a single map to conquer.
Croaky (Laxity)
The graphics and sound are nice, and all the many elements of the original gameplay are present. There are, however, some annoying bugs.
Run Demon Run (Psytronik)
A devilishly good instant runner... Not quite the technical achievement of C64anabalt but with a bunch of interesting additional moves.
The Age Of Heroes (Psytronik)
A muscle-bound adventure that gives you a real good, old-fashioned retro gaming hack 'n slash challenge.
Arkadenoid (Arturo Dente)
There are some nice ideas here, like the alien taking the shape of the level's blocks. But the game is spoiled by its slow pace, poor collision detection and the limited angles the ball can move in.
Sheep Is A Key (Rafaelle Formato)
Some dodgy collision detection spoils what could have been a fun game.
Super Galaxibirds (C64 Crap Debunk)
Andy's graphics include some neat little birds as a homage to the original. The gameplay however is very basic.
Redshift (World XXI Soft Inc)
It's difficult to find anything missing from this vertically-scrolling shoot 'em up. Every element from the old school arcade shooters is there and, considering it's on the humble Spectrum, it's all quite something to behold.
Bean Brothers (Stonechat Productions)
Despite a few tiny elements which might have been done better, this is a solid, professional looking and well thought out platform game which should appeal to players of all ages.
Mr. Do (Adrian Singh)
This is one seriously faithful remake. The sprites are all brilliantly animated and excellent replicas of the arcade.
The Malignant Gore (Sanctum Games)
The game creates a unique and creepy ambience and the hectic gameplay which becomes more erratic as the Scientist controlling the gun turrets becomes more panicked is a stroke of genius!
Ninja Gaiden: Shadow Warriors (Yuri Potapov)
The game does not push the Spectrum to its limits or offer a great deal more than the original Gameboy title but it is fantastic fun while it lasts. It also comes with the bragging rights that you finished a Ninja Gaiden game!
Nazoler Land (Goblinish)
If you like puzzle games you might enjoy this. If you don't you'll probably hate it, especially if you forget to turn the music off.
ZX Larry (Rafal Miazga)
Retains the humour and puzzles of the original but does away with most of the naughty stuff. It's no mean feat cramming all that into a Spectrum, making it worth a look in my book.
Sophia II (Alessandro Grussu)
The graphics are very lovely but the game simply gets boring and repetitive after a while and doesn't really drive the player on to completion.
Generacio Digital (Rafael Vico Costa)
This game is very passive and distinctly average. Nothing is ever damaged or dies. Fortunately you can press 5 at any time to quit.
Mage Rage (Joesoft)
Whilst the action is limited and slightly repetitive, it's great fun while it lasts. One for those who remember gaming prior to 1985.
Dead Zone (Matra)
A highly enjoyable game with a lot of variety. Each mission introduces a new foe as well as a different cityscape.
Lovecraft Mythos (Matra)
An entertaining platformer, with added blasting, cool sound and nightmarish terrors. It's not, however, as creepy as I thought it might be based on the subject matter.
Old Tower (RetroSouls)
The first multi coloured Spectrum scroller, this game borrows a fairly unique concept, acknowledges it and improves upon it. A fun game. Addictive too.
Quadron (Cronosoft)
A great game with an odd mix of old style graphics and more modern thinking gameplay style.
Developer Profile: Andrew Beale
Motte And Bailey (Taylor Pottery Studios)
Lots of fun to be had in this management sim. It's very polished, well thought out and it's refreshing to play a new game in a genre that's largely been ignored in more recent years.
Gluf The Tesla Frog (RetroSouls)
Fluid gameplay, colourful graphics and a couple of original concepts, tied in with some more familiar ones, make this an ecstatic, electrically charged, extravaganza.
