To experiment with the various sounds available, simply press the corresponding keys for type and length of sound and your choice will be printed on screen. For example, type A and H, which will give you "STARBURST" and "INFINITELY LONG" on screen (see complete key list below).
All ten function keys are available to store tunes and to define any of these, simple tpe * (i.e. shift/colon). The program will then ask you which key you wish to define. Press the NUMBER KEY (important), corresponding to the function key desired and then begin typing your tune.
Use the space bar for pauses in between notes. For chords, type up to three notes together without any pauses. The fewer pauses you use, the faster the tune will play.
When you have finished typing your tune, press the RETURN key. To play back your tune, press the Function Key (important), corresponding to the number key tat you pressed to begin storing your tune.
Octaves can be changed using the Up and Down editing keys and fine tuning is possible using the Left and Right editing keys. If your tune becomes too long, just press ESCAPE then C.
Whilst using the function keys, you can change the type of sound as well as the note, which opens up the possibility of programming some very unusual tunes indeed!
To keep any compositions that you are proud of, save them to cassette by pressing ESCAPE, then 3.
To load saved tunes, first load Beebop (if noy already in memory), then press ESCAPE, followed by L.
All other instructions are included in the program.
