Introduction
This is a package of programs on two cassettes which is designed to show you how to communicate with and use your Dragon 32 microcomputer.
Because your computer understands the Basic language, this Tutorial will teach you how to write programs in BASIC.
No special or prior knowledge is required to use this tutorial.
The Cheshire Cat Basic Tutorial consists of:
Tutorial Parts 1 and 2 which introduce you to the fundamentals of programming in BASIC.
Practical Parts 1 and 2 which give practice in the rules learnt in the Tutorial and include Problems, Hints and Answers.
The Tutorial proceeds in short steps through the fundamental rules of BASIC, allowing you at any time to go back a step. It is interactive which means that you are presented with the rule to be learned, shown examples of its use and taken through a short question/answer session to establish that rule.
Practical 1 is intended to be used after Tutorial Part 1 to ensure complete understanding of the rules learnt so far and to give essential practical experience.
Practical 2 should follow Tutorial Part 2 and presents some interesting problems for you to solve on your computer.
Instructions to load and run the Tutorial are included.
Complete this Tutorial and you will be well on the way to taming your Dragon!
How To Load And Run The Basic Tutorial
The Basic Tutorial consists of four programs, one on each side of the two cassettes.
These should be worked in the following order:
- Tutorial Part 1
- Practical 1
- Tutorial Part 2
- Practical 2
Each program has been divided into sections for your convenience so that it may be run from any point. Select the H option at run-time to list these sections.
To load and run Tutorial Part 1
Inside the correct cassette.
CLOAD (ENTER)
The Welcome Greeting will be displayed and the main program loaded in. Please wait as requested for the UK to return before typing RUN and hitting ENTER. You will be asked to select your opion. Type H for Help if in doubt. Do not disturb the tape. There follows a short pause before the Tutorial proceeds.
To load and run Tutorial Part 2 and Partical Parts 1 and 2
Type:
CLOAD (ENTER)
When OK returns, type RUN (ENTER). Do not disturb the tape. You will then be asked to select your "option". There will be a short Pause before the program proceeds.
Troubleshooting
If the BREAK key is pressed during running the program will stop.
Please rewind and go through the load procedure from the beginning.
