Exolon (Hewson Consultants)

Everything reeks of quality, the arc of the grenades, the flames from thrusters... Even the animation when your man dies. Whatever this chap programs next, I want to play it.

Sun Star (CRL)

An enjoyable, if infuriating, game. A little more technical cleverness in the conversion could have produced some much more impressive graphics.

Basketball (Gamestar)

This one gets nine out of ten... on the "Yeuch" scale.

Game Over (Dinamic)

Crouch, jump, sweat, zap. A demanding game, this 'un. Full of irksome promise, too.

Convoy Raider (Gremlin)

What Convoy Raider needs is a better sense of being involved... I found it very difficult to work out where the submarine I was supposed to be depth charging was, and the missile launch was both boring and frustrating.

Quartet (Activision)

The game shows all the things not to do with sprites. The money Activision have spent on advertising this game should've been spent on better programming.

Wonderboy (Activision)

Amstrad Wonderboy has none of the magic of the arcade. It is a dull game programmed merely adequately.

Black Fountain/Sharpe's Deeds (Incentive)

Both these adventures were written using Incentive's Graphic Adventure Creator. My watchwords must be - examine everything and be generous to those you meet.

The Mystery Of Arkham Manor (Melbourne House)

The concept and story line for this program are excellent.
