Mixing a football game and a menu-driven adventure has worked well to produce a fun game, although you're only likely to play the adventure until you've solved it and then you're left with a football game.
There's plenty to keep you occupied and the levels get progressively harder as you get better at completing them... Buy this and you'll never look back.
I scoffed when they said After Burner was coming out on the CPC... But having seen it now I take it all back. Highly recommended.
The best of the Star Wars games... There's some real gameplay and skill involved and some of the later levels are quite tough.
Instructions like "soar through wave after wave of flying death in your armour-laden helicopter" should always be taken with a pinch of salt, but the ones with Typhoon should come complete with a share in a salt mine.
Operation Hormuz (Again Again)
A not-half-bad shoot-'em-up that will occupy you for quite some time before your attention wanders.
The program sometimes crashes in the datalink, making this a good effort spoilt by a disastrous bug.
Archon Collection (Electronic Arts)
Two games for the price of one. Neither are quite up to Electronic Arts' otherwise high standards, but it's very good nonetheless.
Good graphics, but trouble with gameplay. I suspect this one won't run and run.
The graphics are small, but there's plenty of colour and they're well animated... An atmospheric tune also plays.
Another disappointing arcade conversion... A dull, slow game with poor sound effects.
This lot should keep the simulationist happy and everyone else should got enjoyment out of some of these games at least.
You're getting quality for your cash... It's well worth getting, even if you have half the games already.
Even leprechauns look down on these "giants"... If you've already got Gauntlet II then don't bother with this.
Game, Set And Match II (Ocean)
It's a decidedly average compilation. Match Day II is the best of the bunch.
Batman: The Caped Crusader (Ocean)
Bam! Kerpow! Holy CPC, Batman, this is a cracking good game and no mistake.
This is boring with not enough to keep you enthralled. There are many locations, but they all look the same.
Four large levels to explore.... but each one is very similar. If you can find it, get Gauntlet instead.
A classic example of a good idea spoilt by sloppy programming and inefficient (if not non-existent) playtesting.
