Many hours of fun... It has a lot of the atmosphere of the cartoons, but it is let down by poor collision detection.

World Class Leader Board (US Gold)

I've always been fond of golf games... so naturally this is a great favourite of mine. The additional features turn what was a good game into a classic.

Sidewalk (Infogrames)

The game is original in many respects and the graphics are good even if they are monochrome.

How To Be A Complete Bastard (Virgin)

It might give you a few laughs and it's the only game where I've ever turned into a gas cooker, but generally it's pretty forgettable.

Scrabble Deluxe (Leisure Genius)

The game is good. The computer opponents are tough at high levels and will give you a good game.

Armageddon Man (Martech)

It is possible to get somewhere in the game, but I would have appreciated a good action being more clearly recognised and rewarded.

Flunky (Piranha)

The game is hard to get into, but who knows? You might like it if you have the patience of a saint and the will of an iron bar.

Xor (Logotron)

Bound to become a classic which will provide excellent entertainment.

Championship Water Skiing (Infogrames)

More of a simulation than a game. If you have always wanted to try water skiing, but never had the money, then this could be a drier alternative for you.

Mission Jupiter (Codemasters)

It won't set the world alight, buf it might pass some time pleasantly enough.

Mystery Of The Nile (Firebird)

The heroes that you aren't controlling move around at random and often end up being killed by an enemy (or by you if you are not careful where you aim). This spoils an otherwise good game.

Solomon's Key (US Gold)

Easy to get into, but will grip you for hours.

Football Director (D&H Games)

No graphics... completely silent... written in Basic and slow at times. The worst part is that, at the end of the season, your position is saved to tape and you must then re-load the whole game!

Survivor (US Gold)

The idea of for once being a savage alien merely trying to survive and to re-build its race is novel but unfortunately the game does not live up to its potential.

Joe Blade (Players)

It's not my idea of fun, this aimless wandering around. What it needs is more of the puzzling element that the bombs introduce.

Tai-Pan (Ocean)

The mixture of strategy and wandering around town buying and selling does not work very well and it would have been better as a pure strategy game.

Countdown To Doom (Topologika)

More recent products like The Pawn make these games appear slightly crude and unfriendly. Worst of all, they cost £17.50 which suggests very much that Topologika are living in the past.

Philosopher's Quest (Topologika)

The only thing that sets this game apart from other text adventures is the fact that it is disk-only and the fact that it costs £17.95. Neither of these assets is likely to convince you or me to pay for it.
