Waffle is the latest game to make the transition down to the BBC Micro. The idea is as simple as they come: the micro puts six random words into a grid but jumbles up a few of the letters. Letters that are in the wrong place are highlighted in yellow if they're on the right row (or in the right column), or white if they're not, whilst green letters indicate those ones are all good.
You've got fifteen 'swaps' to get the whole grid reading correctly or else you get berated.
This isn't particularly earth-shattering stuff but, like 2048 that was also ported down a few years ago, it's done very professionally and, also like 2048, it's a concept that for some reason is just infinitely playable. The limited swaps mean you fail or succeed quite quickly and the temptation to see if you can crack just "one more grid" is strong whenever you do so.
Basically it's a fusion of anagrams and the old classic 'mastermind'. If you like puzzles, you won't go far wrong here.
