As strategies go, playing another game isn't bad

The Seed: Warzone (Midas)

You know The Seed? Well, they've only gone and shattered the galactic peace. Gah. File this occurrence under 'B' for Bummer and believe that much craft-building and strategising must ensue on the part of the Anti-Seed Defence Force - AKA you - before anything like normality can return.

This effort won't turn hardcore action fans into fun-loving strategists. Its by-the-numbers approach makes for far too much of a mundane affair. Graphics are functional, sound seems like an afterthought and the text-based interactions between the characters read like the first draft script of a junior school play that's been penned by the performers.

Better news comes in the generous array of craft and components, which are eminently tinkerable, and a battle system that proves to be satisfactory without ever troubling the realms of exciting. Hmm, that's more 'average' news really, isn't it? Should've got out of the 'Zone while the going was good...

Verdict

Competent yet uninspiring effort that's never been within a mile of fun.
