The Final Conflict

Just when you thought that Cold War thing was over and we could all start worrying about the Middle East instead, along comes a game about global death in the old style. The Final Conflict is a celebration of man's indifference towards his fellow man and what happens when we let hamburger chains into the Middle East.

Strategy and occasional arcade action is the order of the day in this game. You have to build up troops and arms for war while at the same time monitoring the buildup in enemy countries. One wrong move and they could lob a flock of ICBMs in your general direction... so remember to duck in accordance with the government's popular work of fiction, Protect And Survive.

The arcade sequences - an almost exact copy of the ancient game Missile Command - involve moving a crosshair sight around above a group of cities. Press either the left or right mouse buttons and you send an anti-missile missile up towards the ICBMs plummeting towards earth. The strategy sequences involve making sure you know who is building what and where. The whole game is quite fun in a fascist blow-the-world-up sort of sense.
