This is an excellent book, packed with ideas and information. It is a book for beginners who are interested in writing their own programs and are prepared to spend some time and effort on the way. The first half of the book introduces all the main features of BBC Basic, with excellent examples.
I would wish that procedures and structured programming were introduced earlier in the book, but it is good to see GOSUB being ignored completely. The second part of the book consists of three chapters dealing with graphics, sound and animation on the Electron.
Again there is plenty of detailed information, well presented and with many good illustrations. The style and content of this book are both excellent, and with just over 300 pages for under £8, it is really good value for money. As a comprehensive introduction to programming in Basic on the Electron, this book will be hard to beat.
