Subbuteo

All right, hands up who used to have Subbuteo. Nope, me neither - Ricochet Racers was far better than a silly pretend football game played with a plastic ball bigger than the players. However, somebody in his eternal wisdom has decided to convert the old carpet football simulation onto the ST.

Subbuteo includes everything you'd find in the real - er, I mean pretend - game, except for an irate dad demanding his living room floor back and a dog jumping all over the pitch and blowing a two hour game.

You choose a direction to fire your man in by moving the viewpoint of the pitch: when you're sure the direction is correct, you can set the spin and flick power and the man skitters across the pitch. The game includes all the rules of Subbuteo, and when you mess it up it quotes them at you. Most aspects of the game can be varied, including the kit your men wear. All in all, this is an extremely well programmed game, so if you're one of those people who actually enjoyed the original game then you'll just luuurve this.
