Sensational Games For The Amstrad With The CPC464

The ink was barely dry when I opened this one - but once again Jim Gregory's book oozes with CPC464 specific features. It's full of programs - 24 decent games in all, exhibiting good program structure, and providing good examples from which to learn. Long multi-statement lines are generally avoided - and although the reader may be confused by which character is an 'l' and which is a '1', the programs are easily read and reasonably easily traced through execution.

If we can get permission from Granada and Jim Gregory, then maybe we'll publish one in the next issue to tempt you. They're not bad at all, and emphasise that the CPC464 is easily the most versatile machine on the market.

There's a useful section on subroutines as an aid to programming. The use of carefully designed subroutines combined with the CPC464 editor and disc system will alleviate the drudgery of typing in listings.

A well-conceived series of programs, not overwhelmingly commented in the text or within using REM statements - but you can always use the TRON feature if you want to chart the execution. Good value at £5.95.
