All you do in this game is inch from room to room in what's essentially a straight line. Whilst there's nothing wrong with that, it's at a glacial pace, and you simply stop caring about the story. There's a lot of potential for Paradise Lost to have been a great game, but unfortunately, it mostly goes unrealized.
