Run, jump and shoot everything that moves. If only software companies would really think about the plot, and what people really want from games, this is what the entire instructions for most platform games would be. Just think: fewer pages, lower printing costs and no reviewers complaining about reams of wibbling plot in the manual.
Since the early days of Frankie Goes To Hollywood - the platform game on the C64 - Ocean platform games have generally had a typical look about them. The backgronds and sprites are polished and the action is smooth - nothing wrong with that. Occasionally, though, you feel that you're playing the same game as the last one, but with different graphics.
Lethal Weapon's like that. The plot's based around the third in the series of films, with three separate missions to complete before you can move on to the fourth and final stage. Missions include going down the docks and kicking or shooting people, going down the steelworks and shooting people, going down the subway and, er, shooting people... At the end of each mission is (three guesses) an end-of-level baddie who's difficult to beat.
At under a tenner, Lethal Weapon is pretty good value - just make sure that you really want another platform game before you buy it. It's standard platform stuff, well-decorated but ultimately unsatisfying.
Highs
The graphics are competent. It's quite large and overall the game is a good challenge.
