Over six months has passed since I reviewed Fish! in the April issue of BAU, with any luck long enough for you to have finished the game because the next Magnetic Scrolls adventure, Jinxter, is now available.

The scenario is nothing new. The evil Green Witches, under the rule of Jannedor Nasty have stolen the magical bracelet of Turani, removed its charms and scattered them about the realm of Aquitania and are now threatening untold chaos!

The good guys, the Guardians, headed by Len Wossname, are, needless to say, a little put out partly due to all the impending doom but mostly from the lack of a decent cheese sandwich...

Anyway, guess who's been 'asked' to save 'the world from this terrible threat?

The game starts off quite 'normally' on a bus. You must first work out where to get out, then you can explore your house and garden. The locations here may seem a little mundane, but some strange things happen!

Later on, you can ride a very realistic carousel, get intoxicated in the pub, go diving, meet weird people, do battle with the hideous Postmistress and even control the weather before finally arriving at the Witches' castle and killing Jannedor.

As with all Magnetic Scrolls' adventures, the location descriptions are highly detailed, the illustrations stunning and the text parser very versatile. It's nice to type in 'REMOVE MASK, FLIPPERS AND WET SUIT, DROP THEM AND THE AQUALUNG' and have it executed correctly.

The puzzles in Jinxter are quite tricky, more so than Fish!, but all have logical solutions. As with Fish!, puns are liberally scattered throughout the text so make sure you examine everything you see!

Jinxter is definitely my favourite of all Magnetic Scrolls adventures and I can recommend it to any adventure nut.
