GT-R 400

Lacklustre handling mars pretty budget racer

Can we settle this? Given the availability of second-hand, triple-A titles, the argument that a shonky budget game's price compensates for its homemade production values just doesn't wash any more.

The pity about GT-R 400 is that on the surface it looks like a genuine trend bucket. It's developed by Kuju, boasts licensed cars from Mosler and Ascari, and looks surprisingly sharp.

True, there's lots of track direction reversal to reach the tally of sixteen circuits, and there's only two manufacturers, but we're in budget country.

Sadly though, it's a country you'll be all too happy to leave. The sticky handling is the racing equivalent of trying to get a bit of glue off your finger only to keep transferring it to the other hand. And only half the fun.

Verdict

Even as a budget racer, GT-R 400's sticky handling undermines the good work done on the visuals. Pity.
