Get Out Of My Store
Your store is being invaded! It's near the end of October and weird monsters are trying to steal all your precious burgers. The assumption is that it's Halloween and you are being attacked by ghosts and zombies, but then the next night, plain old November the first, they keep coming.
For twenty nights they'll keep coming, each more difficult than the last. You'll face new, improved enemies and not all of them want your burgers, some are just there to make your life difficult, or even to try and kill you. Fear not, however, you got guns!
Get Out Of My Store is a top-down shooter where you must survive waves of attacks and defend your stockpile of precious burgers. Good luck!

Short and relatively sweet, it won't take long to master this game's twenty levels, which leaves you with a high-score chaser. The graphics are simply but stylised, the theme tune is adequate but instantly forgettable, which leaves the controls and gameplay, both of which are just fine.
It's easy to be less enthusiastic about these simpler RetroDev entries but it's important to remember that they are often created by first-time codes and game designers. I had fun with this game.

It's easy to see why Get Out Of My Store came 4th place in last year's #CPCRetroDev. It's an excellent little top-down shooter that, while far too short, is good fun to play.
The weapons upgrades keep things interesting, as does the variety of different monsters. Be sure to look out for the elusive Rainbow Zombie! His bite's not as bad as you might think.
Verdict
Presentation 85%
The game download comes in all formats and includes a manual, and a short 'making of' write-up.
Graphics 75%
Simple, colourful and very effective. The devs struggled with flickering issues but they don't spoil things at all.
Sound 55%
A banal "spooky" tune drones away as you play. There are some sound effects in here, but they are extremely quiet, almost inaudible.
Addictive Qualities 60%
Beating the twenty levels should keep you engaged for an hour or so.
Lastability 60%
This is a short game and it's not very difficult either, but if high score chasing is your thing then get stuck in!
