There are so many mini-game franchises on the Wii; they should rename the system to the "Mini". Well, when the masses get together, there ain't no party like a Wii party I guess, but in the case of Furu Furu Park for the Wii, this is one party you may feel duped when invited to.
Sure the game has a plethora of mini-games, (23 to be exact even though the game boasts thirty, as some are ramped up difficulty versions of the same game) and has a quick game likeness to Nintendo's famed Wario Ware series, yet something is missing from this title that keeps it from being... well... fun.
The visuals are quirky enough to appeal to the eye, with cutesy characters, bright and vibrant colors, and humorous animations and situations. Audio is just as sweet as sugar with a bouncy, giddy soundtrack and helium produced voices. Even the controls are simplistic enough to even get Fred Sanford with his ar-thur-itous into the action with a few twist and turns of the Wii remote.
Where Furu Furu Park lacks the most is a frantic pace and excitement to really engross any gamer for a given amount of time. The games themselves are too short to have any depth, but too long for the 'flash' quick play of style such as Wario Ware, leaving them being just mediocre when it is all said and done. Even with the list containing such classics redos such as Arkanoid, Bubble Bobble, Sonic Blastman, and Pocky and Rocky, these titles are more for the nostalgia buff who has to dig deep into his cerebellum to rekindle those fond memories.
What you are left with is a collection of average and uninteresting mini-games that try to grab your interest by quickening the pace. The result is a cluster of something raw and stale, much like the Sushi Bar game this title tries to pawn off as fun. There are far better titles on the Wii that deserve your hard earned dollars. Don't be fooled by this mini-game farce.
