Destroyer

Destroyer is another game from Sumlock, but it should not be tarred with the same brush as Chopper: this is a far better game.

You are the skipper of the destroyer HMS Victory. Your mission is to destroy the enemy subs in the area, though you are constantly under attack from mines and enemy aircraft. The Victory is armed with an endless supply of depth charges and two anti-aircraft guns.

The keyboard controls I found on this game give good control, especially when it comes to shooting down enemy fighters - the radar scanner tells you the direction they are coming from so you know which direction to shoot in. But watch out for bombs! You should always be on the lookout too for the mines which float from the bottom of the screen and constantly cause you to change direction. Once you have passed the time limit, you go on to the next screen and the speed of the game increases and so do the number of mines and bombs.

The graphics are pretty crude; the sound and colours not all that bad. But I'm sure that Sumlock could have at least disabled the Commodore and Shift key.
