Death Stranding

Not even twenty four hours after the game's much hyped launch on PlayStation 4, Death Stranding has cropped up on Steam with PC pre-orders now live. Since originally publishing this story earlier today, a page on the Epic Games Store has also appeared.

Available for £54.99 via both popular game vendors, Hideo Kojima's barmy new release is pegged for a "Summer 2020" launch. The official store pages don't give much else away, confirming earlier reports that the PC version will be published by 505 Games (Control, Indivisible).

This news shouldn't really come as a surprise though some had predicted Death Stranding would be an Epic Games Store exclusive. This is due to a recent deal between 505 Games and the Fortnite creators to bring Remedy's latest action adventure, Control, to Epic's rival storefront.

Epic has been aggressive in chasing exclusives, including the upcoming Shenmue III. In order to entice gamers to download its launcher, the company regularly gives away free games with one or two cycling out every couple of weeks.

For those who have been following Death Stranding since its very first announcement, they'll know that it has never technically been touted as a PlayStation exclusive. A Kojima Productions FAQ stated that a PC version would be coming after the initial launch though this page was later removed by Sony.

This was no doubt in service of maintaining hype for today's PS4 launch. That said, confirmation from Kojima Productions of a PC released in Summer 2020 seemed like an odd move just days beforehand.

If you're still on the fence over whether to pick up this latest PS4 release, here's an excerpt from our recent 10/10 review:

Death Stranding is like nothing I have ever played; beautiful, heart racing, heart breaking, frustrating, epic, stunning, and utterly nuts. I laughed, I cried, I cursed, and I went to the toilet an awful lot. Death Stranding isn't just my Game of the Year, it's a contender for Game of the Generation too.
