This is Level 9's version of the Classic Adventure, and behaves in a very similar way except that one of the treasures has been moved, and one of the essential objects (you have things like lamps, keys, bottles, birds in cages) is hidden. The dialogue with the computer is a shade less imaginative than Abersoft's version at times (you can do the most appalling things to the dwarf without being told off!). I couldn't find the cage - but then again I must confess that I haven't had enough time to play it properly.
A nice touch in the Level 9 games is the coupon for a clue. If you get stuck [If???! Ha! - Ed], describe the location and they'll send back a clue. They don't publish the 'phone number, and I can't say as I blame them. You can save your position in the game to tape and start where you left off the next time (but you lose points for this expedient).
Like they say in the very comprehensive booklet accompanying the game and setting the atmosphere, "almost everything in Colossal Adventure has a purpose". It may take you a long time to work out what it is, but the net result is probably far more satisfying than any number of alien shoot-ups.
If you want to find out what the addiction of adventure is all about, buy these two before forming your opinion on anything else. They are quite simply superb... if you like this sort of thing.
