Advanced Programming Techniques For The BBC Micro (Addison-Wesley)

This book is a follow-up to Addison-Wesley's The BBC Micro Book: Basic Sound & Graphics. It deserves the title "Advanced", but this should not put you off buying it. On the other hand you must have mastered most ordinary programming techniques before you read this book. It is a very readable book with several very interesting chapters.

There are so many good points it is difficult to pick a few to mention. However here goes - a good LOGO interpreter, and good chapters on recursion, sorting and searching. There is even a mention of PLOT 92 for filling.

Again I was very disappointed at the lack of a chapter on files. Surely in an Advanced book this is essential, especially as this topic was so poorly covered in The BBC Micro Book. Nevertheless, I can thoroughly recommend this book despite this fact.
