Save the world

Zillion

Zillion is a science-based adventure program in which a group of children have won a trip to America and go to the Johnson Space Centre near Houston.

Their visit to Mission Control is not particularly exciting until Zillion arrives dramatically to destroy our world and it is left to the child heroes to save the day.

On booting the disc you are presented with several options. If this is the start of a new game, select this option and the opening story is shown and then on to the solar map. Games may be saved and re-loaded at a later stage.

Zillion

The adventure is very enjoyable and although very "gamey" a variety of skills are required to succeed in it. Once on the solar map navigation is needed to get close to a planet and orbit it and the planet's name has to be entered correctly to get information about it.

When the planets Curli, Lari and Mo are identified it is possible to land on them. Getting the spaceship close enough proved quite tricky.

Once landed, our intrepid heroes have a variety of tasks to accomplish involving a genetic accelerator, circuits and a snow maze. At the end of the quest the evil Zillion must be switched off by using a binary code.

Summing Up

With lots of excellent pictures and a sound educational base Zillion is worth having as part of the science software library, but must be carefully integrated with the overall strategy. A very useful program.
